I have worked in the field of Childcare and Early Years for over 24 years in various different roles: as a nursery nurse, nanny, SENCo, Family Support worker, children and family’s worker and many other roles. Since 2007, I started working with the council in the various roles and currently I am working within the Social Care Department as a Manager of a team of key workers supporting children with complex health needs and/or disabilities and their families. Working collaboratively with the team, I manage and lead the programme of Early Support whilst working on developing and enhancing the service for all service users with new initiatives or programmes. The role has involved assessing and reviewing children’s needs under the Early Help/Support Assessment, Child in Need Plan and Child Protection while ensuring children are safeguarded through a coordinated approach between health, education, social care, private and other organisations. Additionally, whilst being in practice, I have completed various levels of degree courses including BA in Early Years, MA in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Warwick. During this time, I have worked as a course leader and lecturer delivering the FD/BA Early Childhood degree and HND in Early Years at North Warwickshire, South Leicestershire College and University of Warwick for the past 6 years. I have experience in designing and delivered modules within various courses including Social Science, Youth Work, CACHE, Early Years, Childcare, 2+2 as a course/module leader. I engage in mentoring and coaching colleagues, peers and students in a superviser role.
Throughout this period, I have also continued to develop my role within practice as a Leader, Manager and a Lecturer to empower others through my knowledge and experience but also sharing my reflections through my blogs. Continuing with my learning journey, I have completed the HEA Fellowship with the University of Warwick and working towards my Senior Fellowship. I actively engage in research, conferences and publications as well whilst providing key note presentations and training.
